Katrina

Wind and water we survived,

all through the night she howled.

Yet in the day as we looked about

from St. Charles to Bourbon Street,

we saw a city still unbowed.

It was not she who mauled our town,

though her name is often spoke.

It was the failure of man that killed us,

yes it was man, not nature that night

The night the levees broke.

Body's in the water,

were the words of our demise.

We listened and watched in horror,

as we struggled to survive.

We will rebuild

is what our leaders say,

but to the people who escaped;

Its "Bodies in the Water",

we remember from that day.

We weep in sadness,

for all the people lost.

And in our hearts we hope,

it won't happen again no matter the cost.

So be kind to one another,

and pray that someday,

we will care and help each other.

So when a storm,

is headed for your place,

remember us and look around,

Don,t LET it happen to your town,

don't let it be the case,

that you and yours may hear,

Bodies in the water,

bodies in the water

Bodies!
